Training and Technical Assistance

Kai Environmental staff have experience in developing, hosting and conducting trainings on a variety of natural resource subjects.  We have trained Tribal environmental staff to develop Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs) and then taught them the hands-on skills for using water quality equipment to carry out their water quality monitoring programs.  We have also taught people to conduct their own sample collection for shipping samples to a laboratory for analysis, while optimizing the quality control measures on their collection techniques.

Kai Environmental staff also have a wide range of experience in grant management, grant writing, program development, program management and capacity building.  We are trained and experienced in teaching federal grants management for state, local and Tribal governments (OMB Circulars A-103 and A-87).  With this experience, we have helped organizations:
  • Develop systems for managing federal grants, cooperative agreements and contracts that meet program regulations;
  • Develop personnel policy and procedures manuals;
  • Develop procurement procedures that meet program regulations;
  • Set up internal and external grant reporting procedures for organizations running a diversity of programs;
  • Conduct programmatic self-evaluations.

We have experience in grant writing, strategic planning, and organizational needs assessment that can help your organization bring in new programs. Our staff can also host or facilitate meetings and/or workshops with a focus of bringing diverse groups together to meet common needs and goals.
