Cathy A. Needham, Owner, Environmental Scientist
Cathy is the owner of Kai Environmental Consulting Services. She was born and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska and attended school in Oregon and Wisconsin before returning to Alaska in 1999. Cathy is part Tsimshian and descendant of Haida and has previously worked for the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida and the Organized Village of Kasaan in Environmental and Natural Resource fields. In addition to operating the business administration side of Kai Environmental, Cathy enjoys working hands-on in rural Alaskan communities and helping to build capacity in Tribal programs. She is well versed in wetland delineations, water quality monitoring programs, fisheries management projects and NEPA actions. Her formal education includes a B.S and a M.S. in Zoology, with specializations in intertidal marine ecology. In her spare time, Cathy enjoys hiking, fishing, reading, harvesting and cooking.
Kathryn Erickson, Environmental Specialist
Kathryn is an Environmental Specialist with twelve years of experience in the environmental field. She has been working at Kai Environmental Consulting Service since 2015. She previously worked as an Environmental Analyst for the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities evaluating roads, airports and ferry projects. She also has experience in the private sector with soil and water sample planning and implementation, environmental permitting and environmental audits. Kathryn has a B.A. in Geology from Colby College and a M.S. in Geoscience with a Hydrogeology option from Montana Tech. In her spare time, Kathryn enjoys hiking with her dog Sophie, biking, reading, knitting and skiing.
Robina Moyer, Environmental Specialist
Robina is an Environmental Specialist with 8 years of experience in the environmental field. Robina first joined Kai Environmental Consulting Services in 2012, leaving in 2014 to pursue her Masters degree. Since then, Robina has continued to work with Kai Environmental on a project basis, including stream surveys, solid waste assessments and providing occasional GIS support. Recently, Robina has worked as a naturalist guide in Denali National Park, broadening her knowledge of sub-Arctic ecosystems. She is excited to return to Juneau and Kai Environmental. Robina has a B.A. in Archaeology from Boston University and M.S. in Environmental Studies and Certificate in GIS from the University of Montana. When not working, Robina enjoys reading, hiking, skiing and biking.
